Vienna Makes Peace With Its Waste
Martina Ableidinger is expert in waste management and city cleanliness.
Graduation as PhD, she had an academic career at Vienna University of Economics and Business, stressed on the research on municipal waste management and littering in public areas. After that she became working for the City of Vienna (MA 48) in 2005. Among her activities she has been responsible for the operations of waste collection and street cleaning in Vienna. Currently she works with a focus on experience exchange on best practice solutions for municipal waste management.
In Vienna the City takes the responsibility for the entire waste chain. MA 48 is the municipal department for waste management and street cleaning. In international comparisons Vienna is rated as a very clean and worth living City. A well-functioning waste management is of important contribution on that.
